Welcome to U-6 girls soccer!
The season will roughly go from mid-may into July. Girls will play on Tuesday and/or Thursday evenings. Games will most likely be played at Sunrise Elementary school. When your daughter is placed on a team, she will be contacted by her coach. It will be up to the coach to schedule his/her practice dates and times. The equipment that your daughter will need is as follows: A size three soccer ball, shin guards, and cleats. If your daughter wears glasses then she needs to have a sports band for those. Get ready for a lot of fun! Please feel free to contact us with any questions.
U-6 Rules
1. U-6 games consist of two 25 minute halves, with a five minute half time. Games should always start on time.
2. The home team is responsible for bringing the game flags, and suppling the game ball (Game ball is size 3). The home team will start the game with the first posession. The visiting will start the second half with the ball.
3. The home team wears the orange shirts, and the visiting team wears white. All children should be encouraged to tuck their shirts in during the game. Socks must be worn on the outside of the shin gueards only. Once the children play with referees, these uniform guidelines will be enforced.
4. Only throw-in's should be used after the ball goes out of bounds. No goal kicks or corner kicks should be done. Coaches may have the children redo throw-in's for teaching purposes, but there are no fouls called for improper throws.
5. No teams are allowed to use goalies in the game. Although children can play a form of basic defense, children should be taught to stay out of an imaginary "goalie box" or "arch" when the ball is not in the area.
6. There should be no penalties called on players. Coaches may stop play to explain why something is not allowed (tripping, etc.) but should simply allow play to continue afterwards.
7. One coach is allowed on the feild of play for each team. Only two coaches per team are allowed during a game.
8. Scores are not kept at this level. All children should be taught to line up and shake hands after each game.
9. Games are 3 players v.s 3 players.
