What Soccer Age is My Child?

The soccer year runs from Aug 1 to July 31. So Fall 2010 and Summer 2011 are one soccer season. One quick way to determine your child's soccer age is to ask yourself what age is my child on July 31 of this year - if they are 10 on July 31 - then they are a U10.

Should I Register for Rec or Travel?

The White Bear Soccer Club takes great pride in providing everyone - from recreational to premier - a place to play summer soccer. Under-5 through Under-10 levels are reacreation/instructional while Under-11 and older are competitive.

The Rec Program offers younger players a developmental program to build skills and compete with other teams in White Bear Lake.  At the U9/U10 level the recreational program offers a less competitive and costly option.  Teams play other White Bear Lake teams, and in some cases may join with other neighboring clubs in order to field enough teams.

The Travel Program is competitive and in generally plays in MYSA's East or North Districts.  They play one or two games and practice two or three times per week. Depending on the level of play, game nights may conflict with Community Services recreational baseball and softball game nights. Competitive teams typically play in several tournaments. The USA Cup in July is a favorite. State tournaments are held in late July.

What are Registration Fees and Late Fees
Summer Registration fees:

  • U5 - U8 Rec program - $70.00
  • U9 - U10 Rec program - $90.00
  • U9 - U19 Traveling program - $170.00

A late fee of $10.00 will be assessed for summer traveling program registrations after March 15, 2010.

Fall Registration fees:

  • U9 - U14 Traveling program - $75.00
  • Rec program not offered through WBSC in the fall.  Contact the WBL Community Services.

A late fee of $10.00 will be assessed for fall traveling program registrations after August 15, 2010.

How do I Request to Play up an Age Level?

Players that wish to register to play up an age level should select the requested (higher) age level when registering.  The registration system will calculate your fee based on this age level.  If your request is denied, a refund for any additional registration charges will be made.

Players requesting a play up must complete the questions explaining why you are making the request during the registration process.

How do I pay?

The WBSC has gone to an on-line registration system.  For families that do not have access to the on-line registration system or are unable to use a credit card for payment, we offer a one day walk-in registration date.

Walk-in registration date:

  • Saturday, February 13th, 2010
  • Holiday Inn Express in Vadnais Heights

If you are attending the walk-in registration, you should go through the online registration process as far as you can without making a payment. Select the option to pay off-line.  You can make your payment and complete the registration process at the walk-in registration.

You may go back to pay any unpaid balances online using the Outstanding Player Fees option.  Click the link below to use this option.

NOTE : YOU ARE NOT REALLY REGISTERED UNTIL YOUR ACCOUNT IS PAID IN FULL

Can I Request a Specific Coach for My Child?

For the rec program, teams are formed based on the players neighborhoods or schools as much as possible.  During the registration process you will see a text field asking you to list any special requests such as friends your child would like to play with, or the school they attend, or a specific coach they may want.  Use this field for any special requests of that nature.

Traveling teams are formed based on tryout results so special requests are not able to be honored in most cases.

I need a scholarship - what should I do, how do I register online?

  1. Complete the registration steps up to the point of checkout.
  2. Choose the "Pay off-line" option to complete your registration.
  3. Then you must contact the club by following the instructions on the scholarship page.
  4. If you are only granted a partial scholarship - you will need to go into the system and complete payment on your account.
  5. Please note that scholarship funds will not be granted to cover uniform costs.
