Under-11 and older teams are formed through tryouts using the procedures described below. Goal keepers will tryout the same as field players.
U9-U10 players will be evaluated only for purposes of forming one Maroon level team at each age-level. Players not selected for the Maroon team can participate at the Gold level where team formation is less competitive and can be based on playing area or prior team make-up.
The tryout format will consist of a series of small-sided games during which each player will be ranked by independent evaluators. Each summer coach will also be required to evaluate each player from their summer team and this assessment will be included in the determination of the final ranking of the player.
The final ranking for each player is a composite ranking. The ranking is weighted calculated with the coaches ranking contributing between 40% - 60% and the tryout ranking contributing the remainder to the composite ranking. Each ALC determines the weight they choose to give the coaches vs. the evaluators. That percentage is shown on the Age-Level page of the website.
Based on the results of the tryouts, players will be assigned to a team and a coach. Team selection results will be posted on the websites age-level main page when completed. In most cases, ALCs will have teams formed prior to the deadline to submit Fall Soccer team rosters. That deadline for the fall 2011 season is August 7, 2011.
The WBSC policies and procedures governing these tryouts and eventual team formation are documented in the Age Level Coordinator Handbook, which can be found on the ALC page of the website under ALC Resources.
The number of teams at each level and coaches for each team are listed on their Age-Level pages. The information below describes each age level and the expectations of the coach for players choosing to participate at that level.

Coaching Evaluation
The success of the White Bear Soccer Club is dependent on dedicated volunteers and our coaches are the front line of those volunteers. Good coaches are capable of motivating players with positive affirmations and teaching players with effective methods. Your input and evaluation of our coaches is an important part of ensuring that we identify and acknowledge those coaches that are doing a good job.
We ask all parents to evaluate the coaching their player has received. For validation purposes, we do track your login with the survey, but your responses will be kept confidential and sent only to our Director of Coaching and Director of Competitive Player Development.
