WBSC Coaches Traning

The success of the WBSC is dependant on dedicated volunteers and our coaches are the front line of those volunteers. Good coaches are capable of motivating players with positive affirmations and teaching players with effective methods.

If you are interested in coaching at the Traveling level for the White Bear Soccer Club, please submit your application by clicking on the link below.

Questions on coaching with the WBSC can be sent to coaching@whitebearsoccer.org.

Coach/Manager Registration

Completing this registration will add your name to our current 'Coach/Manager Roster'. It will also make you eligible to recieve club apparel when it is available.

It is a requirement that all paid coaches, trainers, etc must be paid through the club (this is for tax purposes, the club can have a significant fine from the IRS or the State if the income is not reported).  Please identify to the registrar all teams that have paid coaches or trainers.

Coach/Trainer/Evaluator Payment forms can be found on the Coaches Forms page.

I just got a newsletter from footy4kids, bringing up the equal playing time discussion. I'd love to hear more from other coaches on equal playing time, what ages is it appropriate for, as well as when to maybe start moving away from it. Thoughts?

Jeremy Schroeder ·

I think it depends on the age and competition level. Definately should be equal in the rec leagues as well as at the U9/10 travelling leagues. As the kids get older and move to 11v11 and onto the big field, where players tend to play the same position, the time will definately vary between those that are playing defense (less substitutions needed) to those that play more of an attacking role (midfielders and forwards).

I've found the below approach helpful, especially at half to help the U9G team I coach to make adjustments. I think they're getting tired of me asking 'So how's it going out there? What did we do well? What could we improve on? Ok, let's do what we talked about!'

From other coaches, I've learned that practice is for getting the point across (in a positive way), and games are the way to learn to apply those points.
